About Me

My name is Zachary Sandberg and I am 13 years old. This year was my Bar Mitzvah year and I decided to take on a Bar Mitzvah project. I love learning about history and wanted to do something memorable and very meaningful to me and my family. After learning from my Great Grandmother that she never knew what happened to her father's family who stayed behind in Poland during the Holocaust and were never heard from afterward. I felt so sad that someone could just disappear and I decided to research what happened.
My Mom and I contacted the Chaim and Sarah Neuberger Holocaust Education Centre and they started us on our journey. I am so glad that I chose to honour Elyah and my family. I learned so much about my family, my history, about Poland and the Holocaust. I hope that many people will see this site learn about my family.
Here are a few things about me. I love to play soccer and hope to be a professional soccer player one day. Right now I play in the OPDL (Ontario Provincial Development League) for soccer. It's a lot of hard work but I love working hard and learning new skills.
I used to play Hockey for the JCC Beast on their select team. It was amazing to play with my cousins and friends. I love all sports but really enjoy playing and watching Basketball. I hope the Raptors go all the way again this season.
Other hobbies of mine are drawing, mixing music, and writing books. I really enjoy hanging out with my friends and making people laugh. I also really like spending time with my cousins and my family.

I was awarded Most Dedicated Player on my JCC Select Hockey Team. Here I am with my cousin and NHL Jewish player Zach Hyman who presented the award to me.
